  • Students return completed form and deposit to their CURRENT band director.
  • Please staple check or cash in an envelope to the completed form.

  • This is only an INTENT to chaperone and does not guarantee you will be selected.
  • You are encouraged to sign up for the Friends and Family Tour Package while waiting for the chaperone selection process to be completed. Deposits made to the Friends & Family Tour Package will be transfered to the chaperone travel account, if you are selected as a chaperone.
  • One form is needed for EVERY adult who intends to chaperone.
  • No deposit is due with this form until you are accepted as a chaperone.
  • Parents should return completed forms to their student's CURRENT band director.
  • Please sign the form on both pages where signature is requested.

6:00 am
Continental Buffet Breakfast with 1 hot item each morning at the hotel.
6:45 am Load buses and depart to Riverside, CA
8:00 am Approximate arrival at Riverside Community College.
8:00 - 9:30 am Rehearsal at Riverside.
10:00 am Depart to Universal Studios.
11:00 am

Arrival at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Spend the day at Universal Studios California. Hollywood, the movies and television come alive at this real working motion picture studio and theme park.  It’s the only place on earth where you can go beyond the screen and actually “Ride the Movies!”
After the park closes this evening you will exit to the Universal City Walk – a fascinating collection of shops, restaurants, movie theater, etc.  You will have time to shop for souvenirs, have dinner ($$) in one of the many restaurants or at the food court before returning to the hotel for the evening.

8:00 am

Load buses and transfer to Disneyland Resort for the day.  Drop on arrival at Disneyland.
Today you’ll spend the day at the Disneyland Resort – your “Park Hopper” ticket will allow you admission both to Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure.
Dinner ($$) (on your own) while in the park or at Downtown Disney.

TBD March in the parade down Mainstreet USA as a final warm-up for the Tournament of Roses © Parade.
TBD Evening return to the hotel.

Today we’ll take you to one of  Southern California’s beautiful beaches for some “fun in the sun” – play volleyball, Frisbee, swim if you are brave enough! Dinner ($$) (on your own) while at the pier.

Transfer to Knott’s Berry Farm for the afternoon – California’s “Original” family park – lot’s of great “thrill rides” at this park. Lunch ($$)

TBD This evening you’ll attend the dinner / show at Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament before returning to the hotel for an early bedtime in preparation for the big day tomorrow!

Saturday, January 1, 2011

  Box breakfast will be provided this morning.
5:30 am Spot buses for band and staff at the hotel.  Load and depart for parade.  Band will go to the parade formation area.  This time could be a little later depending on position in the parade line-up.
5:30 am

Spot 1 bus for chaperones / family at the Torrance Marriott.  Load and depart for Parade Grandstand Seating.

8:05 am

This is it!  The 2011 Tournament of Roses © Parade! You will be performing before tens of thousands as you march down Colorado Blvd. and literally millions worldwide on TV.
At the end of the parade route, the band will be served lunch by the Tournament before returning to the hotel.

12:00 pm

Approximate arrival of chaperones back at the hotel. 

12:30 pm

Upon arrival chaperones will have a nice seated luncheon awaiting you.
This afternoon you’ll have time to rest, watch the reruns of the parade (it is replayed continuously throughout the day on KTLA Channel 5, swim or spend some time at the mall.

7:00 pm This evening we’ll have a pizza dinner followed by a DJ dance to celebrate your successful tour to Southern California.

    Plans are in place to utilized BHS and RHS band trailers for transportation of instruments and luggage to and from Los Angeles.

    PRICING NOTES ON TOUR PACKAGE:  This early in the process we cannot actually determine guaranteed bus cost, theme park admissions, etc – so we have made our best educated guesses at what those costs might be in arriving at these ESTIMATED prices.  As we move forward we will work to solidify accurate pricing and will make every effort to improve this pricing if possible.  We are confident that the prices presented should be a maximum cost for the tour packages.

 

    *PROJECTED TOUR PAYMENT SCHEDULE FOR STUDENTS & CHAPERONES

    DUE MAY 15, 2010: **$200.00 per person tour deposit plus signed contract
    DUE JULY 15, 2010: $200.00 per person tour payment
    DUE SEPT 15, 2009:

    *Deposit for all students and chaperones will be $200.00 due with a signed contract by May 15, 2010.  Future payments for students and chaperones should be at least 25% of the total trip amount each time.  Both student and chaperone payment amounts may be higher than $200.00 depending on the number of occupants in their hotel room.

    **Any student with outstanding band fees will not be allowed to sign up for the trip.

       

    STUDENT PARTICIPATION CRITERIA

       
    • Must be current on all band fees
    • Must be passing all classes at the end of the 1st six weeks
    • Must participate in UIL Marching Contest
       
    Rose Parade Fundraising

    Fundraising efforts for the Rose Parade © will be done collectively on a district-wide basis.  Individual campus band fundraising for the Rose Parade © will not be allowed.  The goal is to have no more than three major fundraisers for the purpose of raising funds to lower the final payment of student participants.  Students wanting to travel to the Rose Parade © are expected to participate in fund raising efforts for this trip.

    Wiley G. Thomas Coliseum

    2:00 Concert includes North Ridge Middle, Smithfield Middle and Watauga Middle Honors Bands

    4:00 Concert includes Haltom Middle, North Oaks Middle, North Richland Middle and RIchland Middle Honors Bands.

    Birdville High, Haltom High and Richland High School band students will perform in concert with the middle school bands at both performances.
